Under the background of economic globalization,the enterprise is no longer just the single "economic man" with the pursuit of profit-growth,but the socially responsible "social ecological economic man".As people take more attention on food safety,social sustainable development and environmental protection,they also give a higher society responsibility expectations on the business activities of enterprises.So the performance of social responsibilities become the important factor for enterprise's survival and development,especially for those multinational enterprises.Corporate social responsibility can help multinational enterprises obtain corresponding legitimacy in overseas operations,quickly set up the enterprise image and brand value,obtain the trust and support from stakeholders,so as to create good for its overseas business conditions.From legitimacy perspective,this paper analyzes the influence of Chinese multinational companies' social responsibility in the host country on their international performance.First of all,with reference to previous research results,in this paper,we expound the process that multinational enterprise bear the social responsibility in the host country to help obtain its corresponding legitimacy.Thus they can reduce the cost of relations,discrimination and not-familiar,then effectively overcome the liability of foreignness.And then help them promote their international performance.Combined with the institutional environment and industry types as the moderator variable on the relationship between corporate social responsibility and international performance,we construct the theoretical model of this paper.Secondly,based on Chinese listed companies as research samples,we define and measure the variables in the theoretical model.And then use the software of SPSS 19.0 to test the research hypothesis empirically.Due to institutional environment is a continuous variable,while the industry is a categorical variable,so in the process of inspection,this paper adopts regression analysis method step by step and the sample grouping analysis method.Finally,on the basis of existing literature research,this paper analyzes the empirical test results.And draws the research conclusion according to the inspection results.We give some suggestions to help Chinese enterprises better implement the social responsibility strategic in the future.Study in this paper shows that there is a significant positive correlation between multinational enterprise bearing the social responsibility and the international performance.It also shows that,the institutional environment of the host country and the industry type which the multinational enterprise belongs to could moderate the positive effect of corporate social responsibility on the international performance.When the institutional environment in the host country is better,the positive influence of corporate social responsibility on the international performance will diminish.And compared to the non-manufacturing industry,manufacturing enterprise bearing the social responsibility has a less effect on the promotion of international performance.
