Impact Of Tourism On Economic Growth In Henan Province

Since the reform and opening up,China has gradually become a major tourist country with the rapid development of tourism and the continuous expansion of industry scale.In recent years,as one of the most important branches of the modern service industry,the impact of tourism on national economic growth has become more and more significant.Therefore,in order to analyze the impact of tourism development in Henan Province on its economic growth,the personalized research of the tourism development in the area was made in this paper.Additionally,the paper analyzed the impact effects objectively and made the recommendations specifically to guide a healthy and sustainable development of tourism.According to the theory of economic growth,the paper studied the impact mechanism of tourism on the economic growth in terms of the input of production factors and factor productivity,built a fixed-effect panel model of the impact of tourism development on the scale and growth rate of economic growth and quantized the impact of tourism on economic growth with different economic transmission channels.Following the above research ideas,this article is based on the tourism and economic data of 18 cities in Henan Province from 2003 to 2016,using endogenous economic growth theory and panel data fixed effect model to study from the following aspects: firstly,an fixed effect econometric model is constructed,based on the explained variable consists of gross domestic product(GDP)which representing the scale of economic growth and the explaining variables consists of tourism,industry,fixed asset investment,and human capital,to analyze the impact of the development of overall tourism,domestic tourism and inbound tourism on the scale of economic growth in Henan Province;Secondly,an econometric model is constructed,based on the explained variables consists of the growth rate of GDP per capita which representing the quality of economic development and the explaining variables consists of tourism specialization level,manufacturing development level,material capital investment,human capital investment,innovation capacity,and the opening degree,to study the impact of tourism development on the economic growth rate.Lastly,following the theory of endogenous economic and the impact of tourism development on the economic growth,an econometric model is constructed based on the variables that impact the growth of economic,such as tourism specialization level,manufacturing development level,material capital investment,human capital investment,innovation capacity,and the opening degree,to verify the effect of tourism development on the economic transmission channels.Through empirical research found that the development of tourism in Henan province can generally promote the growth of its economic scale,and the contribution of domestic tourism to its regional economic growth is higher than the contribution of inbound tourism to its regional economic growth;The impact of tourism development in Henan Province on its economic growth rate was not significant,but tourism lagging behind has a significant positive effect on the economic growth rate.The development of tourism in regions with different levels of economic development has different effects on the scale of economic growth and the speed of economic growth.The analysis of the possible transmission channels for the growth of tourism in Henan Province shows that most of the indirect effects of tourism on economic growth can play a significant positive role through the opening-up and innovation level channels,and have a negative impact through the human capital channels,while the transmission channels for material capital investment and manufacturing development are does not have a significant effect.The innovative points are as follows: The study of the impact mechanism of tourism on the economic growth in terms of the input of production factors and factor productivity,a fixed-effect panel model of the impact of tourism development on the scale and growth rate of economic growth and the quantization of the impact of tourism on economic growth with different economic transmission channels.
