Research On The Relationship Between Tourism And Economic Growth In Coastal Area

In recent years, the rapid development of the tourism in coastal areas, has made these areas become the targets of popular domestic related researches of scholars. The purpose of this study, is to investigate the relationship between tourism and local economic growth, and use the empirical results of the tourism industry to optimize its development path. Research on tourism economic impact of coastal areas, has important guiding role to the local economy and marine economy in China.In the theoretical research, this paper is based on the primary allocation of factors, demand,free competition environment, leadership, relevant industry, the opportunity and the demonstration effect and other aspects of economic influence and would consider its influence to mechanism of economic growth, and construct the theoretical model on the relationship between tourism industry and regional economic growth. Based on the development model and economic characteristics of different industrial stages of tourism industry this article would discuss the tourism industry’s economic influence. In the aspect of theoretical assumption:The total income of tourism industry in Zhejiang coastal area growth is positively related with economic growth, the development of local tourism is in the investment promotion or innovation driven stage; the development of tourism in Zhejiang coastal area has positive externalities on other areas of the economy.In empirical research, this paper is based on data of Zhejiang’s coastal city tourism and economics, using the fixed effects model to test the theoretical model. Results show that, capital, labor, industrial output, total income of tourism economic impact is significant and positive, the economic impact of tourism is far greater than the capital, labor and industrial output. To find the relationship between a single city tourism industry and economic development, this article work through the analysis of the tourism industry dependency index.It is found that Zhoushan tourism industry has the highest degree of tourism industry dependence, while Ningbo has the lowest one, and the Ningbo tourism dependence is not of high stability that the local tourism industry may be low on external impact resistance, Hangzhou’s tourism industry dependency and volatility are both stable. On according to the marginal value of tourism economic influence and degree of dependence which can be obtained from the model regression before, CX can be obtained. And it is found that the Zhejiang coastal tourism has large economic externality. Given plenty of channels of the impact of tourism economy, measurement data is not easy to obtain, this paper gets the local residents’ feeling about the economic impact of tourism indicators through the form of questionnaire, to complecate investigation of tourism in the elements, demand, related industries and other aspects of the economic impact of tourism in Zhejiang, and it obtained consistent results.
