Research On The Impact Of Internet Use On Energy Efficiency Of Enterprises

With the official release of the “Guiding Opinions of the State Council on Actively Promoting the “Internet+” Action”,the pace of integration of the “Internet+” and other industries continues to accelerate,the Internet economy boom continues unabated,and various new industries have emerged in succession which injects new vitality to the domestic eco nomy and brings new opportunities for sustainable development as well.Therefore,does the Internet us e improve energy efficiency and how it works? The current researches have not given a consistent conclusion.Using the Internet effectively to enhance energy efficiency of enterprises is an important solution to China's implementation of supply-side structural reforms and transformation of economic development methods under the Internet economy background.It is of practical significance to the green development of enterprises and the formulation of government policies.Firstly,the paper introduced the background and significance of the topic,and systematically sorted out the previous literature at home and abroad;secondly,based on the technical effects,income effects and resource allocation effects,the impact of Internet use on the energy efficiency of enterprises was analyzed.;third,by reviewing the development status and characteristics of China's Internet utilization and energy efficiency,an empi rical review of the development of the Internet and energy efficiency of enterprises in China was conducted;then based on Chinese enterprises survey data from the Word Bank in 2012,this paper adopted the instrumental variable method and investigated the influence of Internet use on energy efficiency by empirical research for the first time.The results show that: On the one hand,Internet use has significantly improved the energy efficiency of enterprises.On the other hand,it has directly or indirectly improved the energy efficiency of enterprises through the influence of technology effects,income effects and resource allocation effects.When controlling the endogencity with instrumental variable,the above conclusions are even more significant,among which the income effect of Internet use has a particularly prominent effect on the energy efficiency of enterprises.Further studies have found that,among enterprises of different natures and sizes,the use of the Internet has a significant heterogeneity impact on energy efficiency,and this impact is also constrained by the degree of perfection of the city's information network infrastruct ure.we proposed a series of policy recommendations from expanding the scope and depth of Internet use,improving Internet access condition,and different ways for different companies using the Internet to improve energy efficiency.
