A large number of industrial workers will mainly consist of the migrant workers,which are the most important productivity of China's manufacturing industry.However there are many disadvantages for the group,such as overload work schedule,low wages and poor working conditions,which lead to their low enthusiasm for work and fragile emotional ties with the organization.Thus,resulting in a negative impact on the business and economic development of the enterprises.Promoting industrial workers' job engagement has become a strategic challenge in the social transformation period of China.Based on the theory of social exchange and social comparison,this study proposes that leadership-member exchange can promote the improvement of industrial workers' job engagement.By taking organization-based self-esteem as the mediate variable and household register as the moderate variable,a theoretical model of the influence of leader-member exchange on industrial workers' job engagement is constructed.Based on the multilevel data with 444 industrial workers in 64 teams from two manufacturing enterprises of Wuhan and Xiangyang,the mediated moderation model was constructed.We empirically test the relationship between leader-member exchange and industrial workers' job engagement,the mediating effect of the organization-based selfesteem and the moderating effect of household register through HLM hierarchical regression analysis and Bootstrap test analysis in this paper.The research indicates that:(1)There has a positive relationship between leadermember exchange and industrial workers' job engagement.(2)Organization-based selfesteem partly mediates the positive relationship between leader-member exchange and industrial workers' job engagement.(3)Household register moderates the positive relationship between leader-member exchange and industrial worker organization-based self-esteem:compared with urban workers,the positive influence of leader-member exchange on migrant workers' organization-based self-esteem is weakened.(4)Household register moderates the mediating effect of organization-based self-esteem on leadermember exchange and the industrial workers' job engagement:compared with urban workers,the mediating effect of migrant workers' organization-based self-esteem on leadermember exchange and industrial workers' job engagement is weakened.At last,the paper discusses the conclusions and possible innovations of this study and puts forward some suggestions on the promotion of industrial workers' job engagement to the manufacturing enterprises,the limitations and future research directions are pointed and discussed as well.
