With the increase of organizational specialization and complexity,it is difficult to detect and punish corporate wrongdoing in time by relying solely on external regulatory forces. The employees are familiar with the internal operations of the company and can detect and report corporate wrongdoing as soon as possible. Therefore, whistleblowing by employees within the company is an effective way to prevent the occurrence of wrongdoing, reduce organizational economic losses and protect the public interest. However, due to the influence of traditional Chinese culture and the inherent risk of whistleblowing, employees often hold a negative attitude towards whistleblowing.Leader-member exchange will affect employees' assessment of the risks and benefits of whistleblowing, and have a profound impact on employees' attitude towards whistleblowing in the culture of ?guanxi?.Based on this background,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to examine the mechanisms of leader-member exchange on whistleblowing intention in the Chinese context.According to the social information processing theory and self-concept theory, the paper puts forward a dual process model between leader-member exchange with whistleblowing in the individual level from organization-based self-esteem and psychological safety perspective.Valid sample data of 310 subjects from different domestic enterprises were collected through the questionnaire survey. Then this paper conducts empirical analysis to examine the mediating effect of organization-based self-esteem,the mediating effect of psychological safety and the moderating effect of power distance orientation by using SPSS24.0 and AMOS17.0.The conclusions are as follows:(1)Leader-member exchange is positively correlated with employee whistleblowing intention;(2)Organizational self-esteem and psychological safety have part mediating effect on the relationship between leader member exchange and whistleblowing intentions;(3)The power distance orientation has moderating effect on the relationship between leader member exchange and whistleblowing intentions, and it also has moderating effect on the relationship between leader member exchange and organizational self-esteem.The main innovation points are:(1)This paper improves the research on the whistleblowing from the leadership perspective by selecting the leader-member exchange as the entry point to study the influence mechanism of whistleblowing. The paper enriches the study on antecedent variables of the whistleblowing and it verifies its applicability in the Chinese context.(2)This paper reveals endogenous motive of employee whistleblowing intention in the view of employees' self concept and social information processing theory, and it expands the research on the influencing mechanism of whistleblowing intention to some extent;(3)This paper examines the differences in whistleblowing intention among individuals with different power distance orientation, and it interpretes the influence of leader-member exchange on whistleblowing intention under the Chinese context better.
