The Research On The Influence Of Female Directors On The Insurance Companies In China

With the development of society,the gender diversification of the board of directors has gradually become a concern in the corporate governance.The paper takes China's insurance companies as the research object,and explores the influence of female directors on corporate performance from both theoretical and empirical perspectives.It helps deepen the understanding of female directors in specific industries,expands relevant research fields,and enriches the content of research on female directors in corporate governance.The paper takes the influence of female directors on the performance of insurance companies in China as the research content,considers specific factors affecting the performance of insurance companies and the specific advantages of female directors in corporate governance,and analyzes how the gender diversity of board of directors and advantages of female directors' personalities,behaviors,capabilities and social experience could affect the internal and external governance of China's insurance companies.The paper adopts a multiple linear regression model to test the influence of female directors on the performance of Chinese insurance companies.The empirical results show that whether the board of directors has a female director,the proportion of female directors,the proportion of independent female directors,and the female directors' social experience are significantly positively correlated with the performance of Chinese insurance companies;whether the chairman of the board is female is not relevant to the performance of insurance companies in China.The influence of f-emale directors on the performance of China's life insurance companies is slightly higher than that of property insurance companies.The six empirical results passed the robustness test.The study finds that as an indirect factor the female directors have a significantly positive impact on the performance of Chinese insurance companies.Changing the status of zero women director.increasing the proportion of female directors as well as the proportion of female independent directors and improving the social experiences of female directors will be helpful to China's insurance companies' performance,especially life insurance companies' performance.The dissertation theoretically enriched the research content of women director issues and expanded the research framework of insurance company performance.In reality,it has certain referential meaning for regulatory agencies,insurance companies,and female directors.
