The study looked at the demographics of the users of Bitcoin,the digital currency in Ghana.It also covered what the users were using Bitcoin for and the policy implications of the use of the digital currency in Ghana.It was found that the demographics of users of Bitcoin in Ghana was not too different from that of other countries.Most users of Bitcoin in Ghana were between the ages of 20 and 35.Most of the users of the digital currency use it and consider it as a store of value.Another sizeable percentage of the users used it as a currency and for cross-border payments.It was also found that the effect of the use of Bitcoin in Ghana on the currency was negligible.Based on the findings,it was recommended that more education on cryptocurrencies was needed in Ghana for the general public.Also,when it comes to regulations,it would be best for the government to act fast and handle the new technology in a manner that would protect citizens,help the country and not stifle growth in the technology and fintech sector.
