The competition of the enterprise is in the final analysis the competition of the talents,the loss of talent will undoubtedly bring great loss to enterprises.In the service industry with high rate of employee turnover,how to retain staff and reduce employee turnover rate has become a topic of common concern of managers.The current studies have found that negative attitudes variables(such as job dissatisfaction)may lead to turnover,while shock is a more common cause of employee turnover.Shock is a particular,jarring event that initiates the psycbological analyses involved in quitting a job,it provides a new way to study employee turnover.In shock,even in the western context has no mature scale.Research on shock is confined to the classification of the shock and in shock measurement,empirical study is less.Most existing studies using dichotomy,with the number of shock representative shock intensity.Lack of measurement tools,undoubtedly place restrictions on the related empirical research.This study adopted Scenario Oriented measurement management research development.Select the high turnover rate of the service industry,develop effective,suitable shock scale.The results will deepen the rules on employee turnover and the decision-making process,understand and provide important theoretical basis and practical guidance for improving the management of employee turnover in China's service industry.This study was carried out in four sub study:(1)shock identification.Through preliminary interviews and interviews,using grounded theory analysis,identification of events participants experienced in work or in life which encourage them to have the idea of leaving or lead to turnover.(2)further confirmation and collection of shock connotation.On the basis of preliminary interviews and formal interviews,a semi open questionnaire was developed to collect the shock on a larger scale.(3)the development of the shock scale,on the basis of event system theory to prepare the shock scale,and the scale was revised by the pre survey results to form a formal scale.(4)the reliability and validity of the scale were examined.The formal scale was used to investigate,using SPSS17.0 to analysis the data,through correlation analysis,exploratory factor analysis,confirmatory factor analysis test the reliability and validity of the scale.The study found that:(1)shock is widespread in the service industry.We found that each stage of the sample experienced the shock of the individual account for more than60% through interviews,questionnaires,so the research will help managers to take measures to reduce the turnover rate.(2)shock scale that developed on the basis of event system theory has good reliability and validity,it lays foundations for the subsequent empirical research.
