The vigorous development of e-commerce market has played a huge role in promoting the consumption of residents. In 2017,the volume of e-commerce transactions in China increased by 11.7% year on year to 29.16 trillion yuan, which injected new impetus into the growth of consumer consumption. With the increase of residents' income and consumption level in China, the consumption gap between urban and rural residents is increasing, and the narrowing of the consumption gap between urban and rural residents is of great practical significance to the improvement of the overall consumption level of our country. The promotion of e-commerce on residents' consumption will,to a certain extent, affect the consumption gap between urban and rural residents. The purpose of this paper is to study the impact of e-commerce development on the consumption gap between urban and rural residents in China. This article selects the national data in China 2005-2016,as well as the eastern, central, western and northeastern regional statistics.A dynamic measurement model was established to test the relationship between the variables. From the time level and the regional level, this paper studies the impact of e-commerce on the consumption gap between urban and rural residents, and probes into the time and regional differences of the impact. It will find more effective ways for the better development of e-commerce and the reduction of the consumption gap between urban and rural residents in China.Through the empirical study, this paper draws the following conclusions: there are two mechanisms for the impact of e-commerce on urban and rural residents' consumption gap,one is direct impact on Residents' consumption, expansion of residents' consumption, and the other is indirectly influenced by residents' income. At the time level, the direct impact of e-commerce on the consumption gap of urban and rural residents shows a tendency to expand first and then reduce, and the indirect influence of residents' income gradually increases with the passage of time.At the regional level, the two impact mechanisms of e-business in the eastern region tend to reduce the consumption gap between urban and rural residents, and the indirect effect have a greater impact. The direct impact of e-commerce in the central region reduces the consumption gap between urban and rural residents, but indirectly affects the consumption gap.The two mechanisms of electronic commerce in the western region have significantly expanded the consumption gap between urban and rural residents. In Northeast China, the direct effect of e-commerce reduces the consumption gap between urban and rural residents, and the indirect influence can expand the consumption gap between urban and rural residents, but the intermediary effect of residents' income is relatively low.On the basis of empirical analysis, combined the face of China's e-commerce and urban and rural residents' consumption gap,we made a number of policy. It will help e-commerce play a better role in consumption and reduce the consumption gap between urban and rural residents.
