A Study On The Lighting Flexible Production Base On Modular Design

Lighting industry is the typical manufacturing industry,a lot of manual labor involved in the manufacturing process.Small batches,frequent repeat orders,huge number of models,long leadtime,fast product changing and low production efficiency is the characteristic of lighting industry.The change of sales channel expand the diversity of products and request faster delivery time,the traditional assembly line production mode cannot fully adapt to the change of demand,does not have the corresponding flexibility.Flexible production is the right manufacturing model to adapt to changes in market demand and to deal with small batches and product varieties.It is also the most economic and flexible manufacturing model for small bathes and many varieties.D company is well known lighting products manufactrurer,under the condition of product articles increasing quickly and order quantity getting smaller,the production efficiency getting lower and order lead time getting longer.Under the pressure of reducing lead time requested by customers and improving the production efficiency,top management desire to establish more advanced and more flexible production system to solve the problems.This article firstly analysed the root reasons of issues happened at D company from several sections,such as external market demands,lighting industry characteristics and interal management,and then further raised up the solution by modular product design as the precondition,on the basis of quick response supply chain of how to set up and implementation of flexible production systems,and in the process of implementation of the related problems and countermeasures.Modularity is the essence of enterprise internal standardization.Modular product design method can create production flexiblities and improve the response speed of material supply by reduceing the material specifications.The case of D company management practice has proved that the flexible production methods based on modular design can increase productivity and shorten the order delivery time.
