In recent years, due to the irrational structure of industry and engineering projects and technological lag, environmental problems have become increasingly prominent, which has brought huge losses to the society, threatened people's health, aroused extensive discussion and attracted great attention from all sides. With the promotion of the sustainable development, the relationship between man and nature has become the focus of widespread concern.People begin to advocate green concept, develop green economy and build ecological civilization. As an important hub for social financing, the financial industry should also actively respond to the call of "green civilization",develop green finance and accelerate the transformation of green economy.Commercial banks carry out the green-credit policy, use financial leverage to limit the credit scale of “high energy consuming and high pollution” enterprises and guide the flow of social funds to low-carbon,energy saving and environmental protection industry, which to some extent alleviates the environmental pollution caused by economic development.Firstly, this paper analyzes the background of green credit,as well as the necessity of the implementation of green credit policy under the circumstance of increasingly serious environmental problem. In the main part of the article, this paper introduces the economic theory basis of the implementation of green credit, elaborates repectively from the negative externality of environmental problems, corporate social responsibility and environmental risk management. Then, based on the existing research results, this paper analyzes the influence mechanism of green credit policy on bank performance.Analysis shows that the implementation of green credit policy has a significant positive effect on its performance, and the green reputation is a mediator in the relationship between the two.In the empirical test part,16 listed commercial banks in China are selected as the sample. On the basis of the existing achievements, referring to the domestic green credit guidance documents and social responsibility reports, this paper build an evaluation index system for green credit policy implementation applicable to China's banking industry.Using the number of positive reports of green credit for banks to quantify green reputation indicators.According to the relevant financial data of the 16 banks in the wind database, descriptive statistics and correlation analysis are carried out and a regression model is established to test the correlation between green credit, green reputation and bank performance. The test results show that the implementation of green credit policy has a significant positive effect on its financial performance, and green reputation is a mediator in the relationship between the two, which validates the research hypothesis. At the same time, with the indirect governance of haze by green credit policy, the environmental problems have been eased to a certain extent, which further promotes the improvement of its financial performance. As the main body of green credit, commercial banks play a special role in financial regulation. Its "leverage effect" has a profound influence on the protection of the ecological environment and the sustainable development of the society. The green credit policy can direct enterprises onto the path of environment protection and enable banks to avoid the credit risk caused by environmental pollution,so as to achieve a win-win situation between banks and enterprises. However, due to the influence of realistic factors, there are still many problems and shortcomings in our green credit policy, and further improvement is still needed. Therefore,at the end of this paper, several suggestions are put forward for the problems encountered in the implementation of green credit policy in China.
