For more than 40 years of reform and opening up,China's economy has achieved sustained and rapid growth, and it has also achieved remarkable economic growth performance. However,at the same time,China's environmental pollution problem has become increasingly serious. This has adversely affected the health of the people and hindered the sustainable development of China's economy. In the process of accelerating environmental governance, the role of commercial banks in the allocation of social capital has been gradually taken seriously, especially its green credit activities have become an important factor in regulating corporate environmental behavior and accelerating economic green transformation. This study focuses on the relationship between commercial banks' green credit and business performance.Based on a review of previous research literature on green credit, commercial bank performance and the relationship between the two, from the theory of the Equator Principles, corporate social responsibility The theory, camel credit rating index system and cost-benefit model elaborated on the relevant basic theories involved in this study, and analyzed the internal mechanism of green credit affecting the performance of commercial banks, and put forward corresponding research hypotheses. On this basis, through the analysis of the current status and related issues of China's commercial banks' green credit, this study selects 10 listed commercial banks in China as a research sample from 2010 to 2016,and uses factor analysis to measure the business performance of China's commercial banks. The level and degree, from the two aspects of green credit ratio and green reputation, empirically analyze the impact of green credit on the business performance of commercial banks. The study found that during the inspection period,China's commercial banks made certain progress in the innovation of green credit products, and launched a series of green credit products and services;the five state-owned banks occupy an absolute dominant position in the credit scale, and the market share is high, but The green credit ratios of these five state-owned commercial banks are still at a low level;China's commercial banks are also facing a lack of a sound and unified institutional system,a small scale of green credit, and insufficient innovation in products and services. The problem of unsound green credit information disclosure mechanism;with the large asset scale, strong strength and rich experience in risk management, the performance of the five state-owned commercial banks is higher than that of other commercial banks, such as Industrial Bank,Minsheng Bank,China Merchants Bank, and Pudong Development Bank. The performance level of joint-stock commercial banks such as banks is also constantly improving;empirical estimates show that the green credit scale and green reputation of commercial banks have a significant positive impact on the performance of commercial banks, indicating that commercial banks can significantly promote green credit.Enhance business performance. Moreover, green credit has a different impact on the business performance of different types of commercial banks, that is,green credit mainly enhances the operating performance of non-state-owned commercial banks, and the impact on state-owned commercial banks is not significant. Then, the empirical research results also found that green credit has a lagging character in the process of affecting the performance of commercial banks. Finally, based on the above research conclusions, combined with the specific practical and existing problems of China's commercial banks in developing green finance and implementing green credit, the countermeasures and suggestions are proposed from the government level and commercial banks themselves, which is helpful for commercial banks. It provides useful enlightenment for further developing green credit and improving business performance.
