Wood adhesive is a kind of materials to connect the surface of wood with wood or other objects to be one,mainly for the manufacture of wood-based panels?plywood?sandwich boards?wood-plastic composite panels and wood alloy plates,etc.In recent years,the mostly used adhesive is a series of formaldehyde in wood industry in our country,including phenol-formaldehyde resin adhesive(PF),urea-formaldehyde resin adhesive(UF)and melamine-formaldehyde resin adhesive.This kind of adhesive with excellent performance and high bonding strength,and the yield has reached 90%of the total adhesive,is the largest adhesive in quantity for wood industrial.Nowadays,with the improvement of people's living standards and enhance the awareness of environmental protection,the pollution problem caused great attention in the world from formaldehyde,and three-formaldehyde resin adhesive is losing market share.Therefore,the development of environment-friendly and nontoxic wood adhesives has gradually become the mainstream of social development.In this paper,an environment friendly resin adhesive was prepared by using mixed sugar and starch with the presence of catalyst,which avoid the pollution of formaldehyde and the synthesis process is simple,the raw materials consistent with the concept of green resin adhesive.Firstly,three different resin adhesive were synthesized in alkaline conditions,including mixed sugar with phenol,hydroquinone and p-cresol.Secondly,the corn starch as the starting material is reacted with phenol,and phenol as a solvent or dispersant agent in this reaction.Under acidic condition,the starch had a a series of transformation with gelatinization and hydrolysis.As a result,The synthesized resin adhesive bonding properties and water resistance are better,we also tried using sucrose?fructose?glucose and lactose in place of mixed sugar to react.With the bonding strength was used as an index,the optimal condition of synthesis was obtained through the selection of catalyst during the experiment,single factor selection and optimization by response surface analysis method.At last,these resin adhesive'bonding strength,viscosity and water resistance by the universal material testing machine,viscosity instrument and boiled in the water,and the chemical features of resin adhesive is characterized by IR,GPC and TG,it proofs the mechanism which is speculated by Viswanathan.
