In recent years,the development of left-handed materials is very rapid.Left-handed materials with different resonance frequency bands are widely used in all aspects of practical needs.The designed left-handed materials with microwave frequency band can be used in the very popular microwave detection field at present.In practical application,it is necessary to optimize the design of left-handed materials to meet the performance indexes according to the specific practical problems.HFSS electromagnetic simulation software is usually used to design and simulate the structure and size of left-handed materials.According to the simulation parameter results,the structure is optimized to find the best size.The HFSS simulation software has fewer optimization functions,which are only suitable for local optimization of single variables with low optimization efficiency.However,HFSS software has an external interface,which can optimize the structure of design objects by writing external optimization programs.Genetic algorithm(GA)is a nonlinear global optimization algorithm with few parameters and easy to learn.In this paper,based on genetic algorithm,MATLAB and HFSS software joint simulation software to achieve the optimal design of the new three-dimensional left-handed material model.MATLAB software was used to write optimization programs,and hfssapi library functions were used to write modeling language and generate VBScript script files.MATLAB automatically starts HFSS software through VBScript script for simulation,and returns the simulated performance parameters to MATLAB for iterative optimization,and repeats until the optimal value is obtained.S parameter is an important index to measure the performance of left-handed materials.This paper takes it as fitness value to optimize the design of left-handed materials.This paper mainly does the following work:1.Aiming at the improvement of the traditional shape of left-handed materials,a new two-dimensional model of left-handed materials is designed to meet the requirements,and the characteristics of its left hand are verified.2.According to the shortcomings of two-dimensional left-handed materials that must be attached to the substrate and poor high-frequency performance,etc.,a new three-dimensional left-handed material model that meets the requirements is improved and designed on the basis of two-dimensional left-handed material model.3.In order to achieve the accurate design of resonant frequency,based on the genetic algorithm,MATLAB and HFSS software were used for joint modeling and simulation to optimize the structural parameters of 3D left-handed material,so as to achieve the optimal design of 3D left-handed material model meeting the performance requirements.
