In today’s highly competitive product market,product form will affect consumers’ first impressions,so product form design is an important user influence factor.With the increasing trend of cross-domain cooperation,it has become a trend to integrate user research methods that are related domain methods and technologies into product design.In this paper,the problem of design generation gap is caused by the lack of correlation between traditional product form design and user visual cognition.A product form optimization design method based on visual cognition theory and combined with eye tracking technology is proposed.The main work of this research is as follows:(1)Studying the process of user’s visual cognition,understanding the characteristics and mechanism of user’s visual cognition,obtaining the visual cognitive model of product form,and using morphological analysis method to deconstruct and extract the elements of product form design,obtaining the basic elements of product form design and their levels.(2)Eye movement cognitive data based on eye movement tracking experiments are obtained.Qualitative and quantitative problems are analyzed mathematically,physically and chemically using Kansei Engineering theory.Eye movement indicators highly correlated with shape are screened by homogeneity test of variance and single factor analysis method.Then,design elements are parameterized by quantitative category I theory.Eye movement is established by data mining technology.The relationship model between tracking indicators and design elements is established,and the relationship model between eye tracking indicators and design elements is obtained.Then,the morphological design elements and their weight ranking closely related to user’s visual cognition are extracted,and the effectiveness of the model is verified.(3)Determining the research sample and the target emotional image,that is,the shape optimization design of the electric kettle is taken as an example to verify the feasibility of the method.This paper proposes a morphological optimization design method based on visual cognition.Based on visual cognition theory and eye tracking technology,the user’s eye movement data is analyzed.According to the feedback of user eye tracking information,design elements and eye movement indicators are established.The relationship model clearly defines the design elements and their ordering that affect the user’s visual cognition,obtains the optimized design scheme,and realizes the product form optimization design based on user information mining,helping the designer to optimize the product form from the perspective of user visual cognition,thereby promoting the product.The optimized design of the form is oriented in a direction that is more in line with user cognition to enhance the scientific and rational design.
