A Clinical Study Of Grape Seed Proanthocyanidins In Adjuvant Treatment Of Asthma

Part One The Clinical Research on Oxidation-resistance Monomer of Chinese Traditional Herbs in Adjuvant Treatment of AsthmaObjective:Asthma is a chronic inflammatary diesease characterised by airway inflammation,airway hyperresponsiveness(AHR)and airway remodeling.OPC is an natural polyphenols compound with strong oxidation-resistance ability and protection for many kinds of diseases,extracted from grape pip,but the study on OPC in asthma is rare.The experiment is to investigate the influence and mechanism of OPC on inflammation indexes of asthma patients.Methods:67 patients with non-acute attack asthma who were treated regularly with budesonide formoterol inhalant were randomly divided into placebo group,and high,medium and low-dosage OPC intervention group,they were intervened with drug for successive 8 weeks;and FeNO level,induced sputum EOS%and Peripheral Blood IgE content were detected before testing,at the end of the fourth week of intervention and at the end of the eighth week respectively.Results:after 4 weeks of OPC intervention,FeNO,sputum EOS%and blood IgE were significantly decreased only for high dosage group;after 8 weeks of successive intervention,blood IgE for high and medium dosage group were significantly decreased,while FeNO and sputum EOS%for various intervened groups were significantly decreased.Conclusion:OPC can effectively inhibit airway inflammation and improve sensitization state,therefore it is hopeful to open new thinking for prevention from and treatment of asthma.Part Two Influence of OPC Oxidation-resistance Treatment of Life Quality of Asthma PatientsObjective:OPC inhibits airway inflammation,improves function of heart and cerebral vessels,etc.by eliminating in vivo ROS to improve life quality of asthma patients.Methods:60 patients with non-acute attack asthma who were treated regularly were randomly divided into control group and research group.The patients for research group were treated with oral OPC intervention for 8 weeks based on regular treatment.And life quality for the two groups of patients before and after testing needed to be evaluated.Results:after 8 weeks of intervened treatment,the various factors and the average score in mark sheet of life quality for the research group were significantly increased compared with control group.Conclusion:OPC can inhibit airway inflammation based on inoxidizability as pharmacologic action,and play a role in protecting heart and cerebral vessels and improving psychologic status,so as to significantly improve life quality of asthma patients.
