| "Willingness to Communicate" was originally used to explain the difference between people who communicate in their native languages.In the 1990s,Maclntyre et al.formally constructed the "pyramid" mode for second language’s willingness to communicate which has attracted widespread attention of linguists and education psychologists over the past 20 years.The second language willingness to communicate not only covers the individual differences of second language learners,more importantly,but also brings directly language communication behaviors in the whole second language communicative situations.Existing empirical studies show that higher willingness to communicate can improve the enthusiasm of learners to participate in language practice;make the limited classroom teaching extend to unlimited extracurricular learning and tend to the ideal state of second language acquisition.Based on this,around the current situation of overseas students’ in-class willingness to communicate in Chinese and existing problems,the survey study takes overseas students of Faculty of Sinology,Dalian University of Foreign Languages as the research objects,regards second language willingness to communicate "pyramid"model as the architecture and uses questionnaire and inteview to find out major factors affecting in-class willingness to communicate in Chinese of overseas students of Faculty of Sinology,Dalian University of Foreign Languages,the relations between these factors and discuss how to improve overseas students’ willingness to communicate in Chinese according to the analysis results.Based on the research train of thought,this paper is divided onto five chapters:Introduction and Chapter 1 introduce the research background,research questions and research approach,summarize and review the previous research findings in recent years to provide a solid theoretical basis for the survey research conducted in this paper.Chapters 2,3 and 4 are core contents of this paper.They cover from design andimplementation,discussion of final results to comprehensive and systematic answers.to the research questions.Relevant suggestions for the teaching practice of Chinese as a foreign language in Dalian University of Foreign Languages are also put forward in these parts which offer reference for the future research on the second language willingness to communicate.As the last chapter in this paper,Chapter 5 reviews the research results,rethinks research limitations and looks far ahead into the future research development of the second language willingness to communicate. |
