The study of piano learners' career development not only can help us understand and discover the general and special rules of their career development,but also is the impending demands of music teaching. Starting from the individual's genius and through the learning career's whole process,we research and analyze the piano learners' career development scientifically and seriously.The research findings will have profound influence for families,teachers,schools and other teaching organizations on the orientations of teaching methods,philosophy, choosing of students,life faith and value system.At the same time,it will fill the blankness of domestic research.In the first chapter,the author describes kinds of phenomenon of learning piano starting from the presentation of reality,and put forwards the significance of research,motivation,research methods and procedures via reflection.Simultaneously the author analyses and summarizes the related research results,and raises the main new ideas.In the second and third chapter the author attempts to construct the theoretical basis for the piano learner's career development theoretically, and elaborate their connotation and denotation starting from the core concept of career,the piano learners' career and career development. Piano learners' career development is considered as the whole process of self-development starting from receiving music consciousness to, presenting talent of music,and getting support from family,obtaining the piano skill training from the teachers,etc,such a series of factors including trait,interest,ability,parent-child relationship,acquisition on study and life experience,social and environmental effects.The author reviews and summarizes the characteristic of pianists' career development and their time,and concludes the changes on the aspects of their status,the level of skills difficulty and the performance style which is affected by the factors of the system,culture and technology in their period.The author also puts forth the music base and field on the piano learners' music ability,music quality,and trait referring to some related data.In the end,according to the speciality of the group of the piano learners,the author draws a comparison between the students in general and the students in their specialized career development period when it comes to problems.In the fourth and fifth chapter the author makes detailed empirical analysis and study on the piano learners' career development.From the perspective of universally adopted research method,empirical study on specific objects better reflects its truth and facts.From the effectiveness of research,the results of quantitative research show better performance in rationality and impersonality and conform to the rules of general statistics.Qualitative research with the feature of perception analysis finds the inner core problems of interviewees' career development through the study of interviewees and the summary and coding of interview data."Why" and "How" questions are suitable for this method. The research subject of career development of piano learners is a dynamic, changeable and continuous process,which is impossible to explain it completely through either quantitative research or qualitative research. Therefore,the author attempts to combine qualitative analysis with quantitative research to obtain a better scientific understanding and interpretation on their career development.In view of the research process and result of this paper,the method combining quantitative and qualitative research applies to study piano learners' career development,and could also extend to similar fields.In these two chapters we conduct insight analysis for the whole learning process of learners by using the life-span theory of Shoob,and research the piano learners' career development from every career period. And we raise four important career periods:(a) the period of interest and attempt.The teaching curriculums,important content,teacher-student relationship,support means of families in every period present different characteristic in different stages.Second,starting from the theoretical basis of factor theory,referring to Holland's Personality Category,we group personalities into five categories and use measurement and evaluation tools to conduct personality character test on research objects. From the analysis results,we can obtain the music traits and personality category of the career development of piano learners,which lay a solid foundation for objective evaluation on the career development prospect. We conduct the research on the influence of family environment and parenting education style on the piano learner combining Roy' parenting theory and Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.We find that piano learners' family background and parent-child relationship,etc.have close relationship with the career development.At last we summarize the every decision factor and relative effects in the process of the piano learners' career development by using JohnD.Krumboltz's Social Learning Theory and Tiedeman and Gelatt's decision mode.The sixth chapter describes the research findings.This study can draw several preliminary conclusions:First,we raise four important career periods:(a) the period of interest and attempt;(b) the period of study and research;(c) the period of learning specialties;(d) the period of profession orientation.Second,piano learners' music genius,ability and personality determine his career development prospect;Third,the piano learner' career choice is affected by many related factors,among which, interest,environment,family and teachers play very important roles;Fifth, the learners present various characters in different stage on account of the distinct piano course,teaching style and family support mean;Forth,the relevant factors influencing career development mainly concentrate on four dimensions as individual factor,family factor,teaching factor and environment factor.Finally certain problems are found from the research results about the piano learners' career development and some relative advises and solutions are suggested.We believe that the steps to a success road for the piano learners' career development should be:Firstly,they are endowed by nature with music talent,whose parents have quite high identity and expectation of their music ability.They can begin their learning with the support and care by the family,while economic basis is not the only function of the family.At the same time they can get the continuous encourage, supervision and kinds of information from parents and get careful instructions from teachers.During this period,they excite great interest in learning the piano,they are also affected and moved deeply by the teachers' course arrangement,teaching style,professional ethics, remarkable dedication,music ideals and personality charm. Simultaneously,they are willing to endure the long-term loneliness and boredom for practicing piano strenuously,which brings them remarkable progress in the piano field,comes to a state of integrating music and spirit, and makes music be a part of his life.Finally they obtain the approval and affirmation in the piano field and take a road to the piano teacher or pianost.
