The ritual and musical education in the Western Zhou Dynasty is the origin of the ancient Chinese ritual and musical culture.The thoughts of the various learners are based on this review.It has a restrictive effect on the political ethical ideology and the existence of literature and music and the lifestyle of the Zhou people.The essence of the constraints corresponding to the ritual and musical system is the spiritual connotation embodied in the rite and music education,which is named the teaching of musical virtue.The content of the rite and music education in Western Zhou Dynasty includes the teaching of musical virtue,the teaching of musical language and the teaching of music and dance.The teaching of musical virtue which is a moral spirit standard and the spiritual essence of the rite and music education corresponding to Western Zhou Dynasty guides and restricts the practice of the teaching of musical language and the teaching of music and dance.This paper focuses on the teaching of musical virtue which is the spiritual essence of ritual and musical education in the Western Zhou Dynasty.The paper consists of the introduction and five chapters.The introduction part includes the reason of proposing the topic and the summary of research status.The first chapter is an overview of the ritual and musical education in Western Zhou Dynasty.It includes the origin and formation and the content of the ritual and musical education in the Western Zhou Dynasty.The second chapter summarizes of the teaching of musical virtue firstly.Then it introduces the main content and connotation of the teaching of musical virtue within six aspects respectively.The third chapter introduces the virtue of the teaching of musical language.First,it introduces the main content of the teaching of musical language.Then,it analyzes the virtue of the teaching of musical language with specific chapters in The Book of Songs.The fourth chapter introduces the virtue of the teaching of music and dance.First,it introduces the main content of the teaching of music and dance.Then,it analyzes the virtue of the teaching of music and dance with the summary in Dawu.The fifth chapter which is based on the analysis of the teaching of musical virtue,the teaching of musical language and the teaching of music and dance summarizes the influence and enlightenment of the ritual and musical education based on virtue in Western Zhou Dynasty.
