The Jiangsu-Zhejiang War And The May 30th Movement

During the 1924～1925,the Jiangsu and Zhejiang war and the May 30 Movement took place in Shanghai and its surrounding areas.These two events are inextricably linked.The Shanghai area on the eve of the Jiangsu and Zhejiang war was in a situation of the confrontation between the warlords and the separation of the Chinese community in the concession.However,relying on the checks and balances between the various forces inside and outside Shanghai,the song Hu area is on the surface of a fairly peaceful and stable state.With the change of the national situation,the contradiction between the warlords and the warlords in Shanghai was escalated,and the civil forces within the Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces could no longer balance the opposing warlords,and the wars in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces also broke out.The outbreak of war has produced two direct consequences that affect the May 30 movement.One is that the outbreak of the war broke down the stability situation in the Shanghai area,weakened the power of the Shanghai warlords,and produced a gap in the political outbreak of mass movement,and the May 30th Movement broke out in this gap.At the same time,the warlords also fought for the contradictions in Shanghai,and intended to support nationalism to vent their national sentiment for the people of the south of the Yangtze River,and to maintain a more tolerant and supportive attitude at the early stage of the movement,which,to a certain extent,hindered all parties’ repression in the early period of the May 30th Movement and promoted the development of the May 30th Movement..On the other hand,the war of Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces also stimulated the gentry merchants who had been committed to maintaining regional peace before,and made them gradually transform their original attitude to the cooperation with the warlords,and faced the social crisis to save the society,especially the relief spirit and the gentry merchants raised a large amount of funds during the war.All walks of life participating in the May 30 movement,especially the workers in the long strike straggle.It also provided an opportunity for the union of the businessrmen and the workers in the May 30th Movement.The new model laid the foundation for the establishment of the United Front under the banner of anti imperialism.
