There is an inseparable relationship between black literature and black music.Early black slaves were plundered by the language and words. They could only seek spiritual solace with songs and preserve the culture in the form of music. As time goes on,when African American writers begin to write their words, the elements of black music naturally blend in.Toni Morrison is the first African American female writer who won the Nobel prize in literature. She occupies an important position in the history of literature. She has been deeply influenced by the black music in her creative content and writing techniques, and the theme of her creation is always inseparable from the construction of the black people themselves. On the basis of the cultural tradition of African ancestors,it is not only to maintain the harmony between the black people, but also to realize the harmony of the relationship between the black people and the other ethnic groups, which is the direction she points out for the nation. At the same time,Morrison's creation also changed with the changes of the time, integrated the new social problems into it,and kept the work alive as long as a song of the century. This paper, based on the characteristics of black music, analyses how the African American female writer Toni Morrison grasped the problem of the construction of the black identity which she paid attention to in the course of the novel. On the basis of the analysis of three kinds of musical features, the thesis compares the differences between Morrison's novel writing and the other representative writers on the basis of the analysis of the three main frames of the black music, spiritual, blues and jazz, and points out Morrison's creation of herself and others at the same time. This article holds that Morrison's creation has always been influenced by black music.Through the understanding of the three forms of black music, she points out that culture, sex and race are important in the construction of black identity. In the continuous cultivation,Morrison has always rethought the former writers and her own creation. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, the paper is divided into four parts. The introduction mainly clarifies the relationship between black literature and music, and puts forward the research direction and research characteristics on the basis of the current research situation;the first chapter discusses the essence of spiritual song and the importance of national unity in the construction of black identity in Morrison.By analyzing the relationship between “woodland space”wrritten by Morrison and the black spiritual songs,it is pointed out that the construction of black identity can not be separated from their national cultural tradition and national unity;the second chapter discusses blues' metaphorical significance to Morrison and the harmonious thought of men and women in Morrison's writing. The form of blues' solo always gives a feeling of melancholy, implying that a single sex is difficult to achieve the healthydevelopment of a man,and the construction of a black identity needs the co-operation of the two sexes.Morrison points out the importance of gender harmony through the “solo” of sex between men and women in the novel. The third chapter discusses Morrison's reference to the spirit of jazz music and the importance of racial reconciliation.Although jazz is a representative of black music,it combines a variety of cultural factors in it.It is like that a truly outstanding black novel never only has black images.Through the contrast of Morrison and other writers,it can be found that Morrison plays an indispensable role in the construction of black identity in the creation of the white man.The fourth chapter discusses the relationship between the characteristics of black music and Morrison's novels. The“repetition and variation”is used to describe the“change and nonchange”of the course of Morrison's novel creation, and the concluding part covers the article from the angle of the black identity construction.
