| Chinese as a second language teaching has more standardized teaching methods and teaching materials.However,due to the special nature of newspaper reading and periodical courses,such as the timeliness of newspapers,textbooks are not easy to compile and update,and the "new" characteristics of curriculum requirements are outstanding.The textbooks have not been able to meet the needs of teachers and students.Therefore,what the newspaper reading course teaches and how to teach,especially the current news as supplementary materials,lacks scientific normative guidance in terms of article selection,editing,length,new words,and language points.This requires the teacher to make more attempts in the teaching process according to the actual situation of the learner,and make adjustments at any time.Therefore,the choice of supplementary materials for the newspaper reading course is a question worth studying.This paper aims to study the advantages and disadvantages of online news as a supplementary material for newspapers and periodicals readings in the 2017 mid-level newspaper reading course of the American Critical Language Scholarship CLS Xi’an Project.In this paper,analysis methods,comparison methods,case studies,and literature research methods are used to discuss the selection principles of online news as supplementary materials for newspapers and periodicals,the length of articles,the amount of new words to be held,and the language points that appear,as well as online news.Analysis of its own strengths and weaknesses.The correlative analysis and comparison of supplemental materials and materials already in the textbooks were also carried out.Finally,the four principles for selecting online journals as supplementary materials for newspapers and periodical reading classes were summarized as follows:First,the main content was positive;Select articles that are closely related to culture.Third,it is advisable to use short and fine texts that are less than textbook texts.Fourth,content should be consistent with the subject matter of textbooks and students’ interests.The three advantages of online news as a supplementary material for newspapers and periodicals reading classes are:First,the language is lively and timely;second,it is rich in content and easy to find;third,it is free and convenient,and has a large amount of information.The three shortcomings of online news as a supplementary material for newspapers and periodicals reading classes are:first,the lack of scrutiny of the language;second,the lack of control over the authenticity of the content;and third,the unpredictable manner of expression.This article is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,introducing the research background,research objects,research methods and research significance of this article.The second chapter introduces the overall situation of the key language scholarship projects in the United States and the specific conditions in the 2017 Key American Language Scholarship Xi’ an project:first,the introduction of the project teacher team;secondly,the project curriculum;and third,the project on newspapers and periodicals Teaching requirements.The third chapter briefly introduces the orientation of newspaper reading and the status quo of teaching materials used in the curriculum.The fourth chapter describes the feasibility and selection principles of the network news as a supplementary material for the newspaper reading course,and analyzes its advantages and disadvantages,namely the pros and cons.The fifth chapter is the use of online news as a supplementary material in teaching practice,and analyzes the realization of expected results.Finally,it concludes with a summary of the conclusions and deficiencies of the study. |
