Research On Jiangnan Industrial Relief In The Late Republic Of China

Work relief are short-term employment activities conducted by nations and social organizations after disasters.As a means of disaster relief,it takes people who lose sources of life but own the ability to work as the object,takes public facility construction as the main content,and holds economic construction activities with main purpose for relief.Since Chinese went into the modern society,on one hand,frequent natural disasters and wars caused people's weakness and suffering;on the other hand,indirectly the development of work relief were effectively promoted.In the late Republic of China,work relief of Jiangnan received support of various social forces.United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration,Executive Yuan Relief and Rehabilitation Administration and other social forces worked together to devote to movements of work relief.Millions of people were able to make a living for their families because of the benefit of work relief in Jiangnan.This paper centers on the region background,resources of parties,procedures,content,regional features of work relief.It not only deepens the understanding of the movements,but also helps understand society and people's life in Jiangnan.The development of work relief of Jiangnan,shows the increasingly standardized and broadening work scope,expands the work relief object groups,and also reveals Jiangnan's regional characteristics.However,in the late Republic of China,due to the limits set by the original purpose,internal management problems,work relief activities of Jiangnan didn't evolve into strong social security mechanism.
