Analysis Of The Piano Part Performance Of The Three Top Songs In Schubert's "Song Of The Swan"

The piano is known as "the king of musical instruments" in the world today.Besides being able to independently display the function of playing performance,it is also the most preferred instrument to cooperate with vocal music.Before the birth of Schubert's art songs,the role of the piano in cooperation with vocal music was to assist vocal music,and therefore it was in the position of foil.In Schubert's art songs,the status of piano is significantly different from the past.The piano appeared as an essential part of Schubert's art songs.Because of its rich texture types,complex harmonies and melodic lines as part of a simultaneous singing melody,piano not only has the function of accompaniment,but also is capable of independent existence,and is an indispensable carrier to express human emotion,rendering the content and artistic atmosphere and reflect the overall effect.This innovation has promoted the composition,status,role and effect of piano in art songs to a new height.The 14 works of Swan Song were completed in the August 1828 when Schubert's life was about to end.The creation of this particular period of time can be said to be the peak of Schubert's artistic career,which has condensed Schubert's life experience.Three works of "Solitary","Far away" and "Farewell" are selected,and their backgrounds,lyric translation,musical structure,tonality,harmony,melody and so on are analyzed detailedly,so as to further understand the art characteristics of Schubert's art songs from the whole to the part,especially what characteristics and skills the piano part of the three art songs have? what high quality performance can be a perfect interpretation of the artistic charm between the piano and art songs which exist side by side and play a part together?This thesis presents a detailed analysis of the works by making charts,spectrum analysis and other methods,in order to more accurately explore how to play the piano part of the three art songs to show its highlights and display the artistic quality of the art songs as same as the vocal part,at the same time not weakening it to the accompaniment instrument.The text is divided into five chapters.The first chapter briefly introduces the life of Schubert and his artistic songs.The second chapter hascombed the creation background and lyrics of the three art songs.The third chapter analyses the musical structure and the harmonic characteristics of the three works.The fourth chapter makes a detailed inquiry into the deep analysis of the body of the piano sound part and how to play the piano.The fifth chapter discusses how the piano and vocal music should be integrated with each other.Through the analysis of the above five chapters,we explore the unique functions of the piano playing in the vocal part of art songs,and provide an effective and theoretical model for the performers.
