The Mogao caves have lasted for more than 1,600 years now.After a thousand years of war and sandstorms,there are still 492 caves with artworks.The long history of cultural traditions and social life fostered the aesthetic conceptions of Dunhuang people.This unique aesthetic taste from architecture to motifs continues to influence the construction of the Mogao caves.Mogao caves since the opening Buddha statues,a variety of decorative patterns will be applied.Different times,different chamber shape,cave pattern distribution and patterns also will change,each time has a unique pattern,the Northern Dynasties Ling lattice and Tian Gong column pattern;Sui Dynasty Lianzhu;Tang Dynasty The patterns of the geometrical decorative bands are mostly in the form of the combination of flower clusters and geometrical shapes.The patterns of the Five Dynasties and Song Dynasty basically followed the previous pattern of the former.Mogao caves with geometric patterns decorated with linear development,progressively accumulated layer by layer,geometric patterns and external patterns of Chinese have a clear track.It is not enough to discuss the pattern art of geometric decorative strips with the principle of pattern beauty.The historical conditions of the secular geographical environment are factors that can not be ignored.The Han and Jin culture is the foundation and the Central Plains dynasty has a lasting and widespread influence.The input,so Dunhuang formed a compatible local culture.Mogao caves are decorated with diligent Dunhuang artisans.The accumulation of thousands of years is endowed with the connotation of beauty of form,beauty of contents and beautiful conception.In addition to the decoration of caves,the history is also recorded honestly.
