In recent years,with the research emphasis on learners,not on teachers,learning strategies have drawn the attention of many researchers at home and abroad,especially on the relationship between learning strategies and English achievements.However,throughout the research of the language learning strategies home and abroad,researches mainly focus on the relationship between non-English majors'achievements and learning strategies.Therefore,this study aims to investigate the relationship between language learning strategies and TEM4 achievements.Ninety-nine English majors from Tianjin Polytechnic University are taken as the subjects to firstly examine the overall situations of subjects' language learning strategy use and differences in language learning strategies used by male and female subjects.Then the differences in strategy use between high-achievers,medium-achievers and low-achievers are explored.Finally,the relationship between language learning strategies and TEM4 achievements is investigated.This study combines qualitative and quantitative research methods,namely it adopts questionnaire and interview to collect data.With the help of the statistical software SPSS 17.0,the data were analyzed.The following research findings are shown:(1)In general,the means of these six strategies lied within the medium level.Compensation,metacognitive,cognitive,social strategies are used frequently by English majors.Besides,there is no significant difference in using these six strategies between male subjects and female subjects.(2)As for the differences of high-score,medium score and low-score achievers,the high-score and low-score achievers have great differences among these language strategies,however,medium-score achievers and low-score achievers have no significant differences.(3)There are significant relations between these language learning strategies and English majors' TEM4 achievements.
