From the perspective of English learning engagement,this study focuses on the learning engagement of students' behavioral level.Questionnaire survey and interview method were used to discuss the correlation between English learning engagement and TEM4 score.This study aims to provide a reference for English majors to optimize their English learning engagement and provide a basis for teaching of which aspect to focus on.SPSS20.0 was used to make descriptive statistics and correlation analysis,and through that the final conclusion and enlightenment were obtained.Through the investigation on 375 undergraduate English majors and interviews with some of them from the class of 2015 in X University,the study found that in general students' English learning engagement is at an average level.According to the analysis of each dimension on the English learning engagement,“Active and Collaborative Learning” and “Supportive Campus Environment” are at a slightly higher level than the average;“Enriched Educational Experiences”is general;the other two dimensions,“Level of Academic Challenge” and “Student-Faculty Interaction” are insufficient.Meanwhile,there is a significant positive correlation between the English learning engagement and TEM4 score for undergraduate English majors.The explanatory power of English learning engagement on TEM4 score is 42%.The correlation between each dimension of English learning engagement and the TEM4 score is different.Specifically speaking,“Active and Collaborative Learning” has the strongest positive correlation with TEM4 score;“Student-Faculty Interaction” and “Enriched Educational Experiences” are positively related with TEM4 score to the low and middle degree;“Level of Academic Challenge” is positively related with TEM4 score to the low degree;“Supportive Campus Environment” has no significant impacton students' TEM4 score.It is the most important value of this thesis that found students' English learning engagement in some aspects was on deficiency,and the strongest factor of English learning engagement,which has the strongest explanatory power for TEM4 score is “Active and Collaborative Learning”.Based on the findings,the author put forward some inspirations and suggestions.
