Angela McRobbie(1951-)is a professor of Communication Studies,Marshall Goldsmith School of Management of London University.Her representative works mainly include:The Use Of Cultural Studies,Postmodernism and Popular Culture,Creative Life: New Culture Industry,Feminism and Youth Culture,British fashion design and etc,She graduated from the Birmingham University's Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies in the 1970 s.Her research area mainly involves:Young women,popular culture,consumer culture,subculture and fashion.Her teacher is Stuart Hall,Hall's research on subcultures has had a tremendous impact on the academic research of Mercuria.She is a feminist,and her work involves content of consumer culture,she absorbed Hall?Marxist theory,etc.It provides a new perspective for the analysis of current consumer culture.This dissertation systematically expounds the idea of consumer culture from the perspective of feminism.Analysing many of the current consumer culture phenomena through consumer culture,for example: conspicuous consumption.This paper is divided into the following parts:The first part,Introduction.The era significance of her ideology of consumer culture as well as the current research status in domestic and foreign.In the current context of consumer society,We are always in the atmosphere of consumer culture.She studies consumer culture from the perspective of feminism,it is of great significance to the development of our consumer culture.The second part is the multiple foundations of Angela McRobbie's study of consumer culture.The Historical Context,Theoretical Origins and Research Patterns of Consumption Culture Formation.First,her consumer culture ideology was formed during the postwar recovery of the British economy.At that time,the British economy was prosperous and the welfare and security system was relatively complete,Angela McRobbie' consumer culture thinking is closely related to this social background.Second,Angela McRobbie used the "modern interpretation model" and the "structuralexplanation model",research and analysis of her thoughts.Third,McRobbie absorbed Roland Barthes' s emiotic theory and Baudrillard's symbolic critical theory,Hall's youth subculture theory and Butler's Genger Performativity Theory.She researched women conduct in-depth research on symbol consumption.The third part is the five dimensions of Angela McRobbie's consumer culture thought.This chapter mainly analyzes from five dimensions: fashion culture and consumption culture,mass media and consumer culture,popular music and consumer culture,postmodern and youth subculture research consumer culture ideas.From these four dimensions we can see that the status of women in the consumer culture is constantly changing and developing.In the process of studying women's consumption culture,she believes that the relationship between production and consumption should be seen,only in this way can a better analysis of consumer culture be conducted.Women's consumption of fashion consumer goods is affected by social status,social level background,ethnic background,etc.Their consumer status is not equal and their consumption range is also limited.Mcrobbie also pointed out that in the consumer culture,although the status of women has always been marginalized,they are constantly moving toward the center stage of consumer culture and constantly show themselves.In the study of new cultural industries,women are in a leading position in the creative industries.The fourth part is the evaluation of Angela McRobbie's consumer culture thought.First,The characteristics of McRobbie's consumer culture ideology.Unique women's perspective,class nature and her dialectic.Second,the contribution to the culture of McRobbie's consumption lies in,widening the field of consumer culture research,exploring the perspective of consumer culture,give new meaning to young women's consumption.Finally,the deficiency of the research of McRobbie,namely the study area,the narrowness of the research age group,racial discrimination and too much attention to the status of women.The fifth part is the contemporary perspective of Angela McRobbie's consumer culture thought.Chinese culture of consumption and further development.Explained from the westernization of consumption and the violence of new media,the impact offoreign consumer culture on the current concept of mass consumption in our country.Women's consumption in advertisements and fashion magazines is in a position of passive construction of ideology,and the status of women is constantly highlighted.The redevelopment of McRobbie's consumer culture thought,explained that the influence of McRobbie's symbolic consumption on adolescents lies in the construction of adolescents' symbolic consumption ideology.The re-explanation of female consumption made us see,in the field of contemporary fashion and pop music,women are not only participants,they are more dominant.The sixth part,conclusion.This part is mainly that it is necessary to look at her consumer culture thinking dialectically,we should learn her strengths and throw away her shortcomings.Consumer culture research is the trend.Therefore,her research on women's consumption culture has opened up new fields and perspectives for research,which is of great significance for the study of consumer culture.
