Recently years,with the "Chinese fever" becoming more and more popular all over the world,there are many language programs have been cooperated by both China and America,which includes the Critical Language Scholarship Program(CLS),one of the short term intensive language programs.Drill 2 is one of the main course of CLS,which plays an important part in improving language competence of students.But for now,the studies of this course teaching are quite few.Therefore,this thesis has certain practical significance.This thesis starts from the aspects that are the requirements on both teachers and students,topic design and the matters of classroom teaching,and combines questionnaire survey,case analysis,date analysis and teaching experience of the author.There are five chapters in this thesis,which is mainly as follows:The first chapter is the introduction,it is about the main source of this subject and its background,significance,literature review and research method.The second chapter focuses on the introduction of CLS and Drill 2.And Drill 2 spreads out discussion mainly from five aspects that includes the teaching task,theoretical basis,operational process,requirements on both teachers and students.The third chapter makes a study on topic design,which mainly combines analyzing the topics of 2017 CLS in Xi'an and questionnaire survey to analyze the the design principles of topic.The forth chapter analyzes the matters in classroom teaching,which starts from the topic distribution,teacher's waiting time after asking a question and teacher feedback for students answers,and combines questionnaire survey and case analysis.The fifth chapter summarizes the thesis,points out the deficiencies in the research and provides some reference suggestions on the teaching of Drill 2.
