| Mate choice copying refers to the behavior of individuals in the process of mate selection,which is affected by the evaluation and judgement of other homosexual individuals,and the behavior of copying and duplicating in the process of mate selection.Mate copying can reduce the uncertainty in the selection process and save the cost,and improve the ability to distinguish the opposite sex.Intrasexual competition means that competition with members of the same sex for access to mates.Intrasexual competition is an underlying mechanism of evolution that explains how males and females developed strategies to attract and retain high quality mates(Buss&Schmitt,1993),At present,the research of human mate copying is still in its inception at home and abroad.So in such a context,this study attempts to explore the impact of intrasexual competition scenarios,attractiveness,and target feedback on the mate copying choice.And the individual internal characteristics of were explored through the introduction of the intrasexual competitive personality questionnaire to supplement the related research on mate selection.In this paper,three experimental studies were designed to explore the effect of attraction combination and feedback on the phenomenon of mate selection in the intrasexual competition.Exp 1:by matching the attractiveness of the model and target,using the classic paradigm of mate copying choice,we investigated the influence of interest and non interest attitude on communication intention.The results showed that 1.No matter what combination of attraction was,compared with no interest,the participants improved their willingness to meet the target in a sense of interest,indicating the appearance of mate choice copying.2.Under the high attractiveness level of model and targets,there are significant gender differences in mate selection.Exp2 based on Expl,explored the effect of Intrasexual competition on mate selection.The results were as follows:1.No matter how the attraction combination changed,the participants' willingness to communicate with the target in the intrasexual competition scenario was lower,and under the intrasexual competition scenario,the subjects' evaluation of the model is more negative.2.0nly when model and target are high attractive,the participants' willingness to interact with the target is significantly different btween the intrasexual competition and non-intrasexual competition scenario,and especially for women.Exp3 explored the evaluation of the willingness to the target and the evaluation of the model in the intrasexual competition.The study found that 1.In the intrasexual competition,the scores of the participants in the acceptance attitude were less than those of the refusal attitude,especially in the high attraction condition of the model and the target.2.Only in the low-high group,there were significant differences in the evaluation of the model under the two feedback conditions.When the feedback was received,the individual was more positive in the evaluation of the models.Moreover,men's evaluation of model is more negative.Combining three experiments,we can draw the following conclusions.(1)No matter which kind of attraction combination,the subjects will increase their willingness to communicate with the target under the interest attitude of the model,that is,to prove the phenomenon of mate choice copying.However,after the increase of the intrasexual competition scenario,it is found that the evaluation of the communicative intention of the target is lower,that is,the intrasexual competition scenario reduces the appearance of mate choice copying.especially under the high level of attraction between the role model and target,especially for women.Under the intrasexual competition,the participants' score on the target's communicative intention was reduced under the acceptance feedback,especially in the high attraction condition of the mdoel and the target.(2)Under the intrasexual competition,subjects' evaluation of model is more negative.And the higher the attractiveness of the model,the more negative the evaluation is.After increase the feedback of target,it was found that only in the low-high group,there was significant difference in the evaluation of the model under the two feedback conditions.In the recept-feedback,the individual was more positive to the model.And there are significant gender differences in the evaluation of model,especially men's evaluation of model is more negative.Mate selection is an important part of human reproduction and life.It is of great significance for human survival,development and evolution.Mate copying is a very complex human behavior,and there are still many problems to be explored.This study can enrich the study in this field,but also provide a new idea. |
