Peer Infringement And Adolescent Depression: The Regulatory Role Of 5-HTR1A Gene Rs6295 Polymorphism

Peer victimization includes verbal victimization,physical victimization and relational victimization,is very common in adolescence.Peer victimization is associated with poor social psychological adaptation.As the growth of teenager's age,the main activities are shifted from family to school.It's important to emphasize teenager's mental and physical health in peer relationship,because poor peer relationship has a significant negative prediction function on depression.Depression is related with depressing mood,poor attention,disappointment,fatigue,worthlessness,Low self-esteem,physical disorders,social deterioration and other symptoms,and have negative effect on teenager's academic performance and life.Basic psychological needs satisfaction includes autonomy need,competence need and related need.The self-determination theory suggest that individual could have the feeling of self-growth,self-confidence,and happiness,only if the three basic psychological needs have been all satisfied.When the environment can't satisfy one's basic psychological needs enough,it always makes individual maladaptation.Peer victimization can reduce the satisfaction of basic psychological needs.The satisfaction of basic psychological needs can relieve depression.The G variant of the C(-1019)G 5-HT1 A receptor gene polymorphism(rs6295)is associated with depression,and the relationship between rs6295 and depression always change in different environment.This research adopted the Peer victimization scale,Basic psychological need scale,Depression scale and rs6295 polymorphism and the four variables have been used to construct a moderated mediation model to investigate the mediation role of basic psychological needs and the moderation role of rs6295.Participants were 504 junior school students in Dongguan city.The results showed that:(1)Basic psychological need is a significantly mediator between verbal victimization and depression,the same as the relationships wtih physical victimization and depression,relational victimization and depression.(2)The mediation of basic psychological needs is moderated by rs6295 polymorphism in the indirect effects of relationships between verbal victimization and depression,physical victimization and depression.But no effect of relationships between relational victimization and depression.
