Smartphone addiction is commonly defined as a form of uncontrollable and excessive smartphone addiction use, leading to psychological and behavioral problems.Adolescent’s smartphone addiction can have negative consequences for adolescents, including health risks, emotional distress, withdrawal symptoms, hindering users’ productivity, damaging social relationships, etc. This study intends to select family(parental corporal punishment),peer(peer victimization),individual(basic psychological need)and other variables to explore the influencing factors and mechanism of adolescent’s smartphone addiction. This study first investigate the predictive effect of parental corporal punishment on adolescent’s smartphone addiction, and further explore the regulatory role of peer infringement in this intermediary path.A study of 700 junior high school students in two ordinary middle school in Shaoguan,Guangdong Province through cluster sampling method, excluding 38 invalid questionnaires,662 valid questionnaires were collected(338 boys and 324 girls, average age 14.42 years old,SD = 0.48,age range 13.91-14.93).The questionnaire included adolescent’s smartphone addiction questionnaire, parental corporal punishment scale,Basic psychological need satisfaction and frustration scale and peer victimization scale.SPSS 22.0 statistical software was used for data analysis. This study found that:(1)Basic psychological need satisfaction and frustration significantly mediated the relationship between parental corporal punishment and adolescent’s smartphone addiction.Specifically, parental corporal punishment significantly predicts adolescent’s smartphone addiction by basic psychological need satisfaction and frustration;(2)peer victimization significantly regulates the first half of the mediation model(parental corporal punishment → basic psychological need satisfaction, parental corporal punishment→ basic psychological need frustration);(3)in the second half of the mediation model, peer victimization significantly regulates "basic psychological needs satisfaction → adolescent’s smartphone addiction",but it is not significant in "basic psychological needs frustration →adolescent’s smartphone addiction",which is manifested in that basic psychological needs satisfaction is significant in low peer victimization and not significant in high peer victimization. This study found that basic psychological needs are a mediating mechanism through which parental corporal punishment affects adolescent’s smartphone addiction, and that peer peer victimization can influence this effect. These findings suggests that reducing parental corporal punishment and adolescent peer victimization and improving satisfaction with basic psychological needs may help prevent and control smartphone addiction risk in adolescents.
