The Influence Of Male Homosexual Self-identity And Identity Pressure On Safe Sex

With the improvement of the tolerance in modern society,homosexuality has increasingly appeared in the public.And the society has also paid more and more attention to it.However,the problems of sexually transmitted diseases are emerging,for example AIDS.According to the data from CDC,homosexuality is the group with the characteristics of rapid growth of sexually transmitted diseases.In consequence,the health problems of male homosexual need to be solved.To research the real situations of safe sex,923 male homosexuals are involved in the study from 12 various provinces in China,tested by ’The Lesbian,Gay,Identity&Bisexual Scale’,’The Homosexuality Stress Questionnaire’ and ’Safety Sex Behavior Questionnaire’.In addition,the study also research effects of homosexual identity and identity pressure on them from the perspective of realistic safety behaviors,and explores the relationship between the three and the mediating role of identity pressure.From the perspective of psychology,the study explores the issues of male homosexuality’s safe sex.It is committed to uncovering the influences of homosexual self-identity and identity pressure on safe sexual behavior,so as to provide theory evidence to the intervention of male homosexuals’s diseases.The results of the study show that:1.The translated version of The Lesbian,Gay and Bisexual Identity Scale contains 25 items and 6 dimensions.The reliability and validity index of the questionnaire are good,which can be used as the measuring tool for homosexual self-identity.2.There is a significant correlation among homosexual self-identity,homosexual identity pressure and safe sexual behavior.In aspects of dimensions,they are all significantly related to safe sex except identity recognition and superior identity.3.In regression analysis:(1)homosexual identification can significantly predict safe sex;(2)male homosexual identity pressure can significantly predict safe sex;(3)homosexual identification can significantly predict male homosexual identity pressure.4.The intermediary effect test results show that male homosexual identity pressure plays a partial mediator between male homosexual identity and safety behavior.That is to say,homosexual identification can directly predict safe sexual behavior,and can also mediate the role of homosexual identity pressure to affect safe sex.
