Research On Foster's Dialectical Naturalism Thought

John Bellamy Foster is the chief representative of American Ecological Marxist philosopher and Ecological Marxist.He insisted that the Marxism Theory contains profound Ecological Thoughts,which provides theoretical guidance for the solution of ecological problems.He studied today's ecological problems at the natural development and social development which are the two axis of development.He revived and developed the Ecological Philosophy thoughts of Marxism Theory,and then formed the idea of harmonious development of human and nature.That is his Dialectical Naturalism.Dialectical Naturalism is the basic viewpoint of Ecological Marxism.It forms the theoretical basis and the core content of the Marxism Thought.Dialectical Naturalism is the core of Foster's Ecological Marxism Thought.Based on his works and current research of his thought,this paper expounds the Dialectical Naturalism in the following aspects.Firstly,the author studies the theoretical source and philosophical basis of Foster's Ecological Marxism thought,and then interprets the relationships between Ecological Marxism Thought and Traditional Marxism and Western Marxist Theory.Secondly,the paper interprets the main content of Foster's Dialectical Naturalism Thought,clarifies Foster's deep interpretation about Marx's materialism on the view of the natural dimension and explores the ways to eliminate the ecological crisis.Thirdly,the paper evaluates and analyzes the Dialectical Naturalism,and interprets the differences between the naturalism thought of foster dialectics and the traditional Marxism and Western Marxist Theory.Finally,this paper probes into the positive role and enlightenment of this thought on our Ecological civilization construction.The Summary of this paper is that Foster's Dialectical Naturalism is the reorientation of the relationship between human and nature,human society and nature.It is a new unity about dialectical relationship.Further study of the connotation of the thought and uniqueness of Dialectical Naturalism is of great importance to provide the rest.It is conducive to think and treat the relationships between the economic development and environmental protection,the relationship between economic benefit and environmental benefit,social progress and environmental friendly relations.
