Study On Foster’s Ecological Crisis Theory

Ecological problems is a major issue that human face today. In this paper, one of the representatives of Ecological Marxism, John Bellamy Foster’s ecological crisis theory is studied. Ecological crisis theory is an important part of Foster’s ecological Marxism thought, therefore, the study of Foster’s ecological crisis theory can contribute to a better understanding of Foster’s ecological Marxism.In addition to the introduction and conclusion of this article, there are three chapters, focusing on the following issues:The first chapter, Foster and the generation of his ecological crisis theory. This chapter Introduces Foster’s life and achievements that related to the theory of his ecological crisis, the background of Foster’s ecological crisis theory and the ideological basis of his ecological crisis theory generated. The second chapter, the main contents of Foster’s ecological crisis theory. This chapter is the focus of this study, a detailed description of the definition of the ecological crisis, the analysis of the causes of the ecological crisis and the ways to solve the ecological crisis that Foster thinks. Foster believes the nature of the ecological crisis is the crisis of human long-term survival, the root causes of the ecological crisis is the capitalist system and its mode of production, therefore, to eliminate the ecological crisis through institutional change. The third chapter reviews the evaluation and inspiration of Foster’s ecological crisis theory. This chapter is the difficulty of this paper. On the basis of Chapters I and II, theoretical contributions and limitations of Foster’s ecological crisis theory is analyzed.
