Debussy was a great impressionistic composer in France.Suite Burgamasque is the representative of Debussy’s early piano music works,showing some typical features of Debussy’s early impressionistic style,and such style,with its strong particularity,integration and complexity of content and form,deserves our in-depth study.In addition,how to use appropriate playing techniques to play this style features,is also a subject that must be studied by every entertainer of Suite Burgamasque.Therefore,through four chapters,this paper starts from the analysis of background information,content features,formal characteristics(composing technique),and playing techniques of Suite Burgamasque to introduce the influence of Debussy’s early experience on the composing of Suite Burgamasque and the bumpy publishing process of it;Also analyzes the reasons of naming Suite Burgamasque and four divided songs,Suite Burgamasque’s inheritance and development of the classical piano suite and the romantic piano suite,the blend of pavane and passpied dance in Passepled;respectively,also deconstruct the composition techniques of Suite Burgamasque’s four divided songs:such as the features of melody,harmony,musical form and texture;also clarify some fundamental problems of Suite Burgamasque’s playing techniques:such as,the use of pedals,rhythm and speed,fingering and expression of specific mark,and playing techniques.The purpose of studying on the Suite Burgamasque and its playing techniques,deducing the piano music style and features of Debussy’s early works is to provide a relatively complete and comprehensive teaching reference for performers,teachers,learners,those people who have researched Debussy and those who studies the early impressionistic piano works.
