Jin Yong's Novels And Jiangnan Cultural Spirit

Jin Yong,one of the most famous martial arts novelists in contemporary China,has established an unshakable literary position with 15 martial arts novels.Jin Yong's novels not only have the pleasure of life,the sword and Knight-errant stories,but also have profound cultural connotation and philosophical thinking.Jin Yong is deeply attached to the hometown of Jiangnan,his novels also contain the profound cultural spirit of Jiangnan.This paper tries to analyze Jiangnan cultural elements contained of Jiangnan characters in Jin Yong's novels and analyze their sources,demonstrate their value.This paper is divided into three chapters.In the first chapter,the Jiangnan characters in Jin Yong's novels are classified into four categories:the great warriors,the mad warriors,the hidden warriors and the anti-warriors.Secondly,the psychological and physical characteristics of Jiangnan characters in Jin Yong's novels are analyzed from three aspects:appearance dressing,communication style and aesthetic taste.Finally,analyze Jin Yong' s major narrative strategies for creating characters,namely narrative landscape construction,dialect and custom foil,it is these three elements creating rich Jiangnan atmosphere which spawned Jiangnan characters.The second chapter continue to move forward from the first chapter.First of all,analyze Jiangnan characters' enterprising spirits in their lives.On the one hand,they actively forge ahead to pursuit personal value or playing for his country,on the other hand,most of them have complex seclusion,they always long for rural life.The coexistence of this kind of enterprising spirit and seclusion complex is derived from the teacher education,folk culture and growth experience.Secondly,analyze the mindset of Jiangnan characters,namely nationalism,altruism and egoism.Finally,comprehensive the analysis of Jiangnan character from outside to inside in the front two chapters,extract and purify characters' Jiangnan cultural spirits,namely,poetic romance,freedom,rebellion and humanistic pragmatism,it is these three kinds of cultural spirits,gave birth to the appearance of Jin Yong's Jiangnan characters' temperament,life styles and aesthetic temperament and interests,complex thoughts and so on.The third chapter makes a comprehensive analysis of the origin and value of Jiangnan characters in Jin Yong' s novels.Firstly,as to the origin,the first is historical origin,which can be divided into the patriotic tradition of Jiangnan,the liberal tradition of Jiangnan and the brave spirit of the ancient people in WuYue.The second is natural source,the beauty of the natural geographical environment in jiangnan gave birth to the feminine disposition,the poetic spirit and the seclusion spirit of Jiangnan people.The third is the personal origin,including the Jin Yong family's education,Jiangnan' s literature and culture,Jin Yong' s childhood exile experience as well.Finally,Jin Yong' s novels' Jiangnan characters who made with profound Jiangnan cultural connotation have many aspects of value.The first is the creation model:rich and expand for the characters and culture fusion method;the character description has the aesthetic feeling of the character genre painting.The second is the realistic concern that people can still learn from the poetic spirit of Jiangnan people,learn about freedom of thought and promote patriotism.The third is cultural enthusiasm,that is,to promote national culture in the era of globalization,enhance the identity of regional culture,and think critically about Jiangnan culture.
