The masterpieces of French playwright Jean Genet are fulled of playing elements using. The roles in his plays seek for themselves to satisfy their desires or express their emotions through playing others. This has greatly resemblances with Jacques Lscan's Mirror Stage theory which shows the subjects establish self-identity through the mirror.Through playing others, the roles could satisfy their desires on status, power and sex and identity their self-worth.But mirror could cause transfiguration in that mirror has two sides;for the damages of illusion in plays, roles' playing makes roles into the situation of destruction and the abyss of missing. This thesis will deeply analyze the masterpieces of Jean Genet with taking the playing elements as a starting point and Jacque Lscan's Mirror Stage theory as a new perspective. Thus,it will reveal the absurd social condition in modern and contemporary western society and spiritual crisis westerners through analyzing the roles' inner desires and their situation of being alone and powerless.
