| As the competition of the newspaper industry intensifies with the development of the human society,the novel and diversified design of the newspaper format is receiving more attention.At present,visual element design has become a crucial competition strategy for newspapers and a key driver of the competitiveness of the whole industry.It serves to bring out the uniqueness of newspapers in an effective and vivid way,capturing attention from more readers and enhancing the newspapers’ popularity.In this context,this paper started with reviewing aesthetical features of the format design in order to explore the relationship between newspaper layouts and main design elements based on the evolvements of the format of Information daily in recent three years.Through an in-depth analysis of the case,this paper stated that today’s newspaper format design is experiencing a growing trend featuring the pursuit of greater distinctiveness and originality.this paper probed into the competitive positioning of newspapers in visual element design and how to realize competitive differentiators by newspapers to gain an upper hand in the market.It was found that the well-performing format design of today’s newspapers is primarily underpinned by the extension of reading habits and their research on art,supplemented by effective visual expression,information communication and a comprehensive understanding of the newspaper industrial image.Considering how the newspaper industry stumbles at current stage,it was hoped that this paper could offer some food for thought.All industrial players shall be fully aware of the power of artistic creation.When the graphic design becomes stylized,ideas behind it must be of greater originality.To this end,efforts should be made to find tailored approaches to communicate the essence of each and every graphic design and to foster distinctive design styles that allow contents and formats of newspapers to match in a perfect manner,thus realizing the ultimate goal of information communication. |
