Positive Discourse Analysis From The Perspective Of Evaluation Theory

Systemic-functional linguistics focuses on the social functions of language and the application of linguistic theories.The government work report of the State Council in 2018 is the first government work report since the Nineteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held.It effectively promoted the implementation of the spirit of the 19 th National Congress.Therefore,the author selects this important report and uses the Appraisal Theory to conduct a positive discourse analysis of the State Council's government work report in 2018.The study found that the proportion of attitude resource took up a large proportion in the discourse,where the judgment accounted for a large proportion.This shows that the Chinese government pays great attention to improving its administrative capacity,deepening reform and development,while it inspires the people with practical actions to work together to build a better China.As far as the engagement resource in discourse is concerned,the government work report focus on the voice of people,reflects public opinion and consults with the people.In the terms of the graduation resource,the report reflects the authenticity and authority,enhancing the positive emotional expression of the entire text.On this basis,the study finds that the positive feelings and the attitudes reflected in the report are related to the use of the evaluative lexis in the text and the distribution of evaluation resources is an interactive relationship that has an impact on the interpersonal meaning in the text.
