On The Feminist Novels In The New Century From The Perspective Of Feminist Narratology

The contemporary literary world of the 21 st century has entered a peak period of creation,many of which are excellent literary works written by women writers.After the wind and rain of "Body Writing" in the 1990 s,feminine writing began to rethink its direction and outlet after entering the 21 st century.The progress of gender concept needs to break through essentialism and redefine gender.They did not deliberately emphasize and publicize women's gender characteristics,nor did they name themselves feminism.They combine their personal life experience with their perception of the current society,and write with their unique tender feelings and delicate emotions.The works generally present distinct feminine consciousness and gender characteristics,and treat social changes with women's own eyes.Female writers combine their unique female experience with female perspective to reveal their feminine temperament consciously.In reflecting on the history of oneself,family,society and nation,they try to use them own words to pay attention to the edges that has not been paid attention to and neglected in the past.Therefore,their writing forms and contents are different from the original male writing to a certain extent,which shows the new century women's views and thoughts on the world under the new forms and gender concepts,and expresses women's thoughts and criticisms on the current social problems.In the new century,it is worth noting how women writers use narrative strategies to make the form and content present a new look,and to highlight the female consciousness of women writers.With the help of feminist narratology theory,this paper will take the novel of women writers in the new century as an example,from the perspectives of narration,narrative discourse,narrative voice and other aspects as the breakthrough point,combinined with the ways of expression of female consciousness,explore in depth how women writers in the new century construct women's consciousness,make women's voice and establish women's authority through the choice of narrative forms.The thesis is divided into six parts.In the introduction part,the background and significance of the topic will be introduced.Classifies and summarizes the current situation and trend of domestic and foreign research on the novel creation of female writers in the new century in recent years.This paper introduces the basic concepts of feminist narratology and discusses how to express female consciousness through narrative form.This paper mainly theoretical basis used in this paper: feminist narratology theory.Finally,clarify the research plan of this paper,the objectives and contents of this study,as well as the innovations and difficulties found in the research process.The first chapter analyzes how the writer constructs female consciousness through the choice and use of the perspective of the protagonist,the protagonist-narrator and the narrator.This paper does not distinguish and select the gender of the visual angle,but discusses the ideological expression of the author from different perspectives.The use of the protagonist's angle of view in running Fire and Impotance reveals the real heart of the characters to the readers,and the content of the narration appears to be true and reliable.It is easier to make the readers understand and sympathize.The alternate use of the protagonist and narrator's perspective shows the change of the character in the process of growing up as The Turning Summer and The Good Children Flowers shows.In which the readers achieve self-improvement along with the growth of the characters.The use of the narrator's perspective in The Story of Living Years and Fang Si qi's first love paradise are more authoritative and distant,which is conducive to a more comprehensive control of the fate of different characters,so that readers can more easily accept and identify with the female consciousness among them.The second chapter analyzes the use of free indirect quotation in narrative discourse and discusses its important role in the construction of female consciousness.In different contexts,the use of free indirect quotation will produce different narrative effects and aesthetic interest.In such works as Mail-order Bride and Mo Shang,the use of free indirect quotation strengthens the relationship between readers and works,and enhances readers' understanding and sympathy for characters.In Marriage,many irony rhetoric shows the true state of the character's heart,which increases the difficulty of reading and also helps to express female consciousness.Free indirect quotation also plays a role in gathering clues to express the theme in Light and Weight and Mail-order Bride.The various functions of free indirect quotation realize women's equal and independent free expression.The third chapter discusses the relationship between narrative voice and the establishment of discourse authority.Feminist narratology divides narrative voice into three types: authorial narrative voice,individual narrative voice and collective narrative voice.Among them,collective narrative voice is the most innovative theory.One or more voices produce the same or similar sound while retaining the differences and diversity between groups.Combining with different types of specific works,this chapter analyses the close relationship between collective narrative voice and the construction of female consciousness,and explores how female writers express the discourse voices of female characters and lower-level characters through monologue,co-talk,and rotation(single,total and rotational forms)in collective narrative voice,so as to express the group consciousness that they are eager to be concerned and respected to the readers.The last part of the paper is the conclusion,which summarizes the relationship and function of different narrative strategies used to express women's consciousness in women's literary creation in the new century.In the new century,the scope of attention of female literature creation is wider,and the narrative form and content are more diverse.They seldom express themselves in feminism,but through indirect narration and rethinking of gender relations,they achieve effective expression of female consciousness and the construction of authority of female discourse.
