The paper takes Anton Webern’s serial music,an Austrian composer and one of the representatives of New Vienna Music,as the research object.From the perspective of mirror form,the paper analyzes the elements of mirror form in Webern’s sequence music,then analyzes the mirror of the overall structure of the work,and further explores the subsequent development of mirror form.The paper is composed of introduction,main body and conclusion.The introduction part introduces the reason and significance of this topic,the research status at home and abroad,the basic ideas and methods of topic research,as well as a brief introduction to Webern’s life and works.The main body part includes four chapters.The first chapter mainly defines and classifies the term mirror form in serial music on the basis of predecessors,and distinguishes the relationship between mirror form,symmetry and palindrome in serial music.The second chapter analyzes the elements of mirror form in Webern’s serial music works.The first section of the second chapter analyzes pitch’s mirror form from three aspects: serials truncation,axis music and chord.The second section of the second chapter expounds the rhythm mirror of concert to the mirror of abstract rhythm proportion.Composers can combine the mirror form and rhythm elements perfectly with ingenious methods,so that the rhythm elements can have the function of structural capacity by adopting the mirror form.The third section of the second chapter integrates mirror thinking into tone from single-tone mirror with dot style to tone combination mirror with chord style.The third chapter analyzes the overall structure of mirror form in Webern’s serial music works,and classifies them into three forms: arched mirror form,trichotomy mirror form and dichotomy mirror form.The forth chapter of the paper explores Webern’s later development of mirror form in the whole serial music,including the four aspects of rhythm,vigor,performance methods and the overall structure.Then the paper explains the diversity of the continuous development of mirror form,explores the audibility of mirror form in Webern’s works,and probes into that Webern’s ingenious design has created great possibilities for the audibility of mirror form.In the paper,Webern’s mirror form in serial music is deeply explored,hoping to provide more evidence for contemporary music creation and research on serial music.
