An Analysis Of The Formation And Application Of Shen Zengzhi's "turning Steles Into Posts"

Shen Zengzhi has been reading all his life,and the role his knowledge accumulated in calligraphy is hard to describe in language.In the late Qing Dynasty,with the decline of copybook learning and the rise of epigraphy learning,Shen Zengzhi did not blindly turn to epigraphy learning because of his rich knowledge and objective understanding of new and old things,but explored a way of combining copybook with epigraphy and turning it into epigraphy.On the one hand,because of the foundation he accumulated in early age,at that time he devoted himself to the style of Zhong Wang Ou Mi and the pavilion style of the imperial court.It is a classical way to learn famous calligrapher's art.The emergence of epigraphy,with outstanding practice of selecting famous inscription to supplement the shortcomings of manuscript learning,turns the epigraphy style into a manuscript style.This paper listed Shen Zengzhi separately from many calligraphers at the end of Qing Dynasty.Starting from the calligraphic era in which Shen Zengzhi lived,and examines the meaning of " epigraphy and manuscript" in Shen's calligraphy thought,as well as the application of Shen's concept of "turning inscription into manuscript" after the unearthing of new materials to prove Shen Zengzhi's uniqueness and success in the area.From the analysis of the formation and application of Shen Zengzhi's calligraphy thought,and his choice of famous traditional calligraphers before Shen's calligraphy style was not fully formed,the use of new materials was emphasized,and the reasons and evidence behind this "transformation" were excavated.Through the analysis of Shen Zengzhi's calligraphy practice,it clearly to be get an objective understanding for calligraphy's learner's view,and find the learning direction.
