Research On The Character Characteristics Of The Material In Stop-motion Animation

In today's highly developed 2D animation and 3D animation,Stop-Motion animation,as a kind of animation,still occupies a place in the animation market with its unique artistic expression and beauty.Stop-motion animation uses ready-made materials as the artistic language,and creates dynamic images through frame-byframe shooting.Therefore as the carrier and medium of Stop Motion,material language plays a decisive role in the success of Stop Motion films.This paper focuses on the research on the materials,the basic elements of Stop-Motion animation.Combined with the successful cases of Stop Motion animation works at home and abroad,and based on the principles of psychology,this paper studies the properties of different materials,their unique characteristics and emotional characteristics delivered,with the hopes of providing some new inspiration and creative expression for StopMotion animation creators.This paper is divided into six parts.The first part discusses the basic concept and characteristics of Stop-Motion animation,the classification of commonly used materials and the importance of material selection for artistic creation.Part two mainly carries out character analysis on the soft and hard types of commonly used materials.Part three analyzes different emotions conveyed by different materials of Stop-Motion animation.In part four,cases are studied.This part analyzes the specific application of the character of the materials in animation creation through the animation film “Coraline & the Secret Door” and PES series Stop-Motion animation short films.Part five is about my practice and reflection on the character of materials in my graduation creations.Finally conclusions are given in part six.In short,the selection of materials for a Stop-Motion animation will greatly affect the quality,style and final artistic effect of the film,and how to use the material language to present the contents of the film reflects the aesthetic thinking of the animation artist.Therefore,the research on the character of Stop-Motion animation materials and the reasonable and effective use of existing materials are vital to the promotion of the comprehensive development of the animation industry.Through this paper,I aim to explore the unique artistic expression of Stop-Motion animation from a specific level,and to be able to create animation works with unique artistic value.
