The Formal Characteristics Of Contemporary Portraits

In this pluralistic art environment,any art formals have their own inflexible and reasonable status,but in the meantime,any kind of styles could use or be used as a factor in constructing art works.Because of its uniqueness,on easel and recreation of actual image,portraits on canvas always present in certain positions.In this article,I intended to discuss the possibilities of portrait art from two perspective,the applying patterns of figures and the symbols constructed in portraits paintings.For a long time,portraits have been constructed through copying the image of real figures,but nowadays people come to realize there are more possibilities in using these materials.These possibilities give portrait art more ways to present themselves other than its figurative symbols;there is only single cultural symbol system in traditional portrait paintings,but in modern society,different culture systems interact,and these different cultural symbols interact in portrait paintings,which brings more complex meanings and concepts.In this way,portrait painting could be applied further in multi-culture and art environment.
