Using the historical legendary figure-Hua Mulan as a prototype,the famous composer Guan Xia and playwright Liulin created the opera "Magnolia Psalms".With the combination of symphony and scene opera,they retell this old story to the world in a new form.As the most representative national opera work of our country,"Mulan Psalms" combines western composing skills with the musical elements of Henan traditional opera.This innovation has injected fresh blood into the development of Chinese national opera and national vocal music."If I were a woman" is a re-enactment of the heroes and heroines in the third movement of the opera,which contains a rich flavor of Henan Opera.This unique creative technique all exudes the charm of the national vocal music works of opera style.Research achievements on the mutual reference and integration between modern vocal music and Henan traditional opera are not rare.Some scholars believe that Chinese national opera is closely related to traditional opera art.Among them,the rich timbre changes in Henan opera singing have a very unique advantage in shaping the image of characters and expressing feelings and emotions.Moreover,some scholars claim that the modern vocal music that integrates the musical elements of Henan Opera should be called "Yuge" and point out that this musical form is conducive to the development and improvement of the vocal system of Chinese national vocal music."If I were a Woman" in the opera "Magnolia Psalms" is a festival song.The melody is repeated but progressive.It tells the story in the form of a dialogue.Comparatively speaking,however,there are not many papers on the benefits refer from the opera singing.On the basis of grasping the characteristics of the heroes and heroines of the Mulan Psalms,this paper first analyzes the reference of the tunes of the music "If I were a woman" to the artistic creation style of Henan Opera.Then,it studies the use of sound enunciation and lubrication learnt from the art of Henan Opera respectively with spectral examples.In consequence,the study of this subject helps the author better understand the cultural attributes,spiritual essence and aesthetic characteristics of the local opera music,and provides a certain theoretical basis for the study of Chinese national vocal music works.
