An Analysis Of The Performance Techniques In Picasso's Guernica

This research was done to understand the nature of the thought processes and creative process of artists underlying the creation of an artwork including the symbols used within it for the successful expression of the idea.Hence,the research was done on the basis of analysis of Guernica;the great artwork of the century.This article includes the documentation of overall work process of Guernica from the preliminary sketches until the final painting.It presents the comparison of Guernica with Picasso's preceding work.It interprets the meanings of symbols comparing the interpretations by different researchers and artist himself.Results indicated that Guernica was related with Picasso's previous artworks and his personal experiences and has influences from other artists as well.In addition,the symbols used in Guernica were also from the previous artworks of Picasso.Finally it interprets that the definition of symbol is variable.The symbols are created and used by the artist as per his experiences but the viewer may not understand the symbols from the view point of the artist.The viewer will also interpret the symbols as per their experiences.
