The Narrative Effect Of Nesting Structure And Identity Transformation

Since the 1980 s,on the basis of inheriting the classic narratology centering on structuralist text analysis,narratology has developed post-classical narratology centering on context.As an important branch of narratology,film narrative has formed a more diversified contextual feature of times under the influence of deconstructionism.On the one hand,cyberspace has cultivated viewers' narrative comprehension and interactive entertainment habits.Complex narratives with strong participation,such as “mise en abyme” narratives,non-linear narratives,and circular narratives have become more and more popular,especially the layer structure has been more and more applied in film practice,and has developed a variety of patterns,forming a special aesthetic indication.On the other hand,abundant online and offline entertainment resources have brought aesthetic fatigue of traditional narratives to the audience.The rise of visual culture makes the audience more inclined to watch visual spectacle.Therefore,time-travel narrative,identity switch narrative,fanciful historical narrative and other imaginative-based narratives have become a new trend of the narrative of the era,especially the identity switch narrative with distinctive deconstruction characteristics has become the main choice of spectacle narrative.I found that the “mise en abyme” and “identity switch” can coexist harmoniously by applying them to my original play The Struggle of A Walk-on.In addition,based on the practical experience of my original play,I carried out text analysis in combination with many similar texts.Then I found that in terms of narrative utility,mise en abyme has reflexivity,which can catalyze the type hybridity,generate intertextual rhetoric,and form misplaced identity;identity switch has the property of hypertext,which can form self-examination,lead to lagging behavior,and cause others to misrecognize.Identity switch can be formed through the intermediary of the “mise en abyme” structure,both of which have distinct deconstructive effects,which can form reflexive logic,create alienation effects,and provide intertextuality.Therefore,the combination of the two forms a composite narrative strategy with both the difficulty of understanding the complex narratives and the novelty of spectacle narrative.Composite narrative is the era turning of film narrative on the basis of complex narrative.From the perspective of the overall text structure,the essence of composite narrativeis the combination or superposition of various narrative techniques.And there are countless complex patterns,which are increasing used in commercial film practice to keep the innovation of film narrative and adapt to the change and evolution of the audiences' tastes.At the same time,a composite narrative strategy at the cultural level is gradually emerging,conforming to the trend of “hybridization”,constructing a “third space” that can speak from the “gap”,and providing a new idea for the globalization and the coexistence of diverse cultures of films.
