In this article, the author would give a detailed explanation on the theme of the "suffering" in French writer Marguerite Duras’ creations. By detailed analysis and theoretical critique, the author would prove the "suffering" is the motif of Duras’ creations. Through literature and film narrative revolution, Duras made careful observations and constant resistances on the suffering of individuals and the age. This kind of writing not only capture the atmosphere of the age, but also has a theory height.The first chapter talks about the realistic roots of Duras’creation age, tracing the spirit of the times and the development of literary and artistic. After the World War II, the human entered into a confused era, doubted the human and the existence, and deeply felt the absurdity of human existence. In this period, the person’s spiritual state is suspected, confused, lonely but inexplicably excited, looking forward to a little of what to change the desperate situation. Since the1960s, a "dating" in development upon worldwide, the radical youth were eager to get rid of the bondage of all systems and forms, pursuiting a kind of extreme freedom of not responsible for anything, againsting all the ready orders, systems, authorities. The concentrated expression of this "dating" in France is the May Revolution in1968. Although there are suffering, it exists only when facing the reality. In the discussion of the "the spiritual world", the author selected the theme "love and desire" in Duras’creation to analyze. The more we want to forget, the more we remember. Experiencing a suffering in memory, becomes a deeper suffering. For the dissertation of the "thinking field", the author select the language of the movie Truck to analyze. Through completely irrational way, Duras expressed her political hope. By abandon any actions, she showed her protest. Not only through specific textual practices write herself and the outside world, Duras also made her creation get a theory height. The specific dissertation of the third chapter combines with the analysis about the characteristics of the times in the first chapter in order to find that certain theory atmosphere of the particular era, and combines with the analysis of specific texts in the second chapter, in order to explore a dialogue between her works and theories.
